16th August. 12 -2pm BRANDING & COMMERCIAL OPPORTUNITIES – Chris Thomas
Marketing professional Chris Thomas has made a contribution to a variety of businesses in a variety of sectors in a range of roles. His informal training came during his first job at international media specialist MJP (1980-1992). He joined as the office junior in a £500,000 business, joined the board in 1987 and left a £30,000,000 business in 1992 by which time it had been sold to TMD Holdings (eventually part of Aegis PLC) and renamed Carat International. His next position as partner at marketing agency MCW broadened his marketing expertise and during this period Chris was for the first time able to indulge his passion for sport in a professional context by leading the MCW team that managed the EURO 96 account for the Football Association. Among the many achievements during this period, his coining of the tournament slogan “Football Comes Home” stands out and means most since the phrase has since become part of the everyday lexicon of popular culture. Chris has held subsequent positions at technology businesses EDS, Lution and IMPAQ, at mobile gaming pioneer Million-2-1 and has had the privilege of managing former World Rally Champion Richard Burns. He is currently Director and co-Founder of sports application provider Sports Fusion and marketing services company Brand Fusion. Chris is an accredited mediator, an unaccredited chef, a dedicated father and a committed Arsenal fan.
Thomas shows that you can’t underestimate the power of social media in its
various forms and consolidating an artistic presence by creating a brand
image for yourself can gain you much needed recognition to excell. Thomas
explains why branding is so crucial and how to go about it.
